WORKING WITH A PENDULUM
The pendulum is one of the easiest, and simplest ways to perform divination. It is an amplifier that can help you access hidden knowledge and your higher being. The pendulum can help you obtain answers to anything you can come up with. Learning to use a pendulum is like learning to speak another language or learning to play an instrument. The learning process takes time and frequent practice.
There are different types of pendulums, and they can be used for healing illnesses, adjusting chakras, or dowsing and divination. Pendulums should only be used for one purpose, so you should not use an already programmed pendulum for another purpose because it can lead to mistakes and inaccuracy.
When you choose your pendulum, you should follow your intuition, as it will lead you towards the pendulum you need. There are many different shapes and sizes to choose from. There are some choices in choosing a pendulum that are better than others. When using a pendulum for healing your chakras, a pendulum that has 7 stones for each chakra, or a stone that helps all chakras (like kyanite) would be a better choice. A healing pendulum with healing stones (aquamarine, shiva lingam, amethyst, moonstone) is a good choice, but using a crystal that amplifies healing and healing energies (selenite, clear & rutilated quartz, botswana agate) is a better choice. There are quite a few stones and crystals that are great for a pendulum used for divination and dowsing. Crystals for intuition (moonstone, lapis lazuli, sodalite), crystals for focus and clarity (fluorite, clear quartz, citrine), crystals for psychic abilities (herkimer diamond, labradorite, apatite), or other crystals related to your brow chakra (tektite, sugilite, amethyst).
You should consider making your own pendulum, as the pendulum will be more in tune with your energies. You will also be able to fully customize the pendulum, so you can choose the size, shape, and material as you please. This is a great option, especially if you want a stone that is hard to find on a pre-made pendulum.
Once you’ve got your pendulum, you should cleanse it of any previous energies. You can do this with any of your cleansing methods. But you should be aware that some stones and crystals are sensitive to sunlight, water, salt, etc. Some quick ways to cleanse your pendulum would be by visualization or sound. I, personally, use my breath. I hold the pendulum in my hand and gently blow on it, making sure all of it has been blown on, while I visualize my breath blowing away the previous energies.
Now that you’ve cleansed your pendulum, now you should charge it. You can do this by placing it in water or salt overnight. You can also charge your pendulum by moonlight and sunlight. Keep in mind your crystal’s sensitivity. If none of these options are good for your pendulum, you can place your pendulum on druzy; amethyst and clear quartz are the most common choices. You can also make a crystal grid with your pendulum in the center to charge. You can even place your pendulum on a slab of any amplifying crystal (selenite, super7, auralite) to charge. I charge my pendulum in a small selenite bowl.
Before you program and calibrate your pendulum, you should know how to hold it to get the most accurate responses. You should hold the end between your pointer finger and thumb, if you have a handle at the end of the chain (usually a charm or smaller crystal), you should hold it by handle. Some people wrap the string or chain around your finger. If you do this, make you have at least three inches from the weight at the end. It is highly recommended that you place your elbow onto a surface while using the pendulum, as it helps keep you sturdy. If you are relatively shaky or you worry about accuracy, you should look into buying a pendulum holder that dangles the pendulum from the end. A pendulum holder keeps the pendulum still, in turn, increasing accuracy.
You should now calibrate your pendulum, and see how it’s working. To do this, you should take hold of the end and stay perfectly still. You should ask a yes/no question to which you already know the answer is yes. “Do I live in XXX ?” or “Am I female?’. Watch the pendulum and take note of which direction it goes. This will be your “yes” direction. Repeat the process, but with a question to which you know the answer is no. Take note, this is your “no” direction. It’s recommended that you do this a few more times, so you can understands how your pendulum responds to you. Another way to program your pendulum is by holding the end of the pendulum and asking the pendulum to show you what the “yes” response will be. Then do the same for the “no” response. If you’d like, you can determine which direction will be your “yes” and “no” before asking the pendulum to show you the responses. You can also calibrate your pendulum by using a pendulum chart. A pendulum chart has “yes” and “no” written on it, and can have other words like “unknown” and “maybe”. You would hold your pendulum over the chart and ask it to show you the “yes” and “no” responses.
You should practice with your pendulum several times a day for at least a week. This helps you establish your “yes” and “no” responses. Once you have determined which directions correlate to your responses, do not deviate from them. If you do, it can cause inaccurate responses. You can now start to ask for responses that are undetermined; like “unknown” or “maybe”.
Once you feel as if you’ve gotten the hang of using your pendulum, you can begin to use it.
You are bound to make mistakes and inaccurate readings. This is part of the learning process and should not get you down. The results you get reflect your spiritual/mental development, and should only encourage you to practice more.
